Black and White Trend

image

Last June 27, we were asked to wear black to express our stand against the pointless killings in Zamboanga where an alumnus from Ateneo de Zamboanga was killed together with 250 other victims. Intentions of prayers for justice and eternal repose was offered during the mass. The whole Ateneo community was one in the search for peace and justice.

We showed our sentiments through —- what else? Clothes, of course! This ensemble is an instant classic. The black and white pair is timeless and elegant. I’ve been eyeing on this particular pants coz it’s an instant trend to celebrities and fashion icons alike after it took over the Spring 2013 fashion shows.

One of the ways to achieve the always classic black and white look would be pairing it in polished separates just like what I did here. The pants itself is a total eye catcher, plus it also gives a sexier silhouette for the thighs. This pair was originally my Mom’s, but since she doesn’t like it (you know old people, haha), I immediately asked our personal seamstress to alter it. And tadaaah! Perfect fit!

I received a lot of compliments for my outfit that day. Funny thing here is, what I’m holding is not a mere clutch but my handy laptop. I always bring my laptop to school lately because I have to spend a lot of time in the library to do research. When I say “a lot”, I really mean “A LOT”! *sigh* So I really have to juggle around my commitments.

image

I’m really glad to have shoots with A-Fash because I somehow escape stress by posing in front of the camera. Haha. This one was unplanned, it just so happened that the pioneer batch had a meeting so we took the opportunity to have photos taken.

image

That’s all! I think I overshared in this post and I hope you didn’t get bored. Thank you for reading!

P.S. I’ll be having my title defense for our thesis this July 28, just include me in your prayers. LOL.

Kisses,

Didi

Stay Classy

image

To our regular readers, it’s no-brainer that we both love classic pieces. When we were reunited at Naga City, we took the chance to have an outfit shoot. However, we didn’t have a friend with us who would double as our photographer and we also left our tripod at home so our last resort was to take snaps of each other. Talk about tiis-ganda under the stifling heat of the sun!

image

It was a Sunday and we always equate Sundays with special moments together. We don’t know about you guys but we always feel like we have to dress up every Sunday even if we’re actually headed nowhere. It has been a habit and since we don’t consider that as something bad, we won’t break it.

Color Me Pretty

image

image

Mixing and matching always makes wonders. If you have the right key pieces, you’d definitely increase your fashion mileage. When I dress up, my mood is always the basis of my outfit of the day. Case in point, this cute laidback outfit inspired by Korean fashion. I risked donning such somehow girly vibe (which is not my usual style) because I was feeling bubbly that day. I thought of the colors pink and purple and made them the highlights of my get-up. As to the staple piece, the Forever 21 knitted sweater is a lifesaver. It can be paired with almost anything in my closet – may it be with a bandage skirt, maxi skirt, trousers or even layered above collared tops. It’s actually Didi’s and she’s starting to hate me for wearing it often. Talk about the perks of having a sister. Haha!

image

I was wearing: eyewear, Les’ Modaknitted sweater (Didi’s), Forever 21; running shorts and messenger bag, thrifted; sneakers, Faded Glory

arrow down necklace, Personalized Accessories

I wish I could claim that I painted this pair but unfortunately, I don’t have magical artistic hands. Nonetheless, I think it still suits me. 🙂

Joyce

Preppy Please

image

Sweet? Yes, definitely. Demure? I doubt it. Haha! Honestly, I don’t see myself as a demure young lady but ironically, I often get that impression 70% of the time. I guess it’s because I can be really timid at first but once I’ve established some sort of comfort and security with a bunch of people, I can be very loud and buoyant and in extreme cases, my deadpan humor can kill people. Of course that’s a hyperbole. 😀

image

If you guys have already read my younger sister’s most recent post, then you might be very much aware that we’re facing inevitable circumstances that brought a couple of changes here in our blog. I will have to get used to this – rolling solo and talking to you in the singular form of the first person. Didi will be updating this blog more often because since I am now employed (not that I’m bragging about it, haha) and my working hours could be unpredictable, I might not have ample time to take outfit photos and blog right away. However, I’ll make sure to remind you once in a while that I’m still alive. 😀

image

I was wearing: layered blouses, gift from aunt Mommy Ting; trousers, thrifted; flats, Solemates; Salvatore Ferragamo bag, hand-me-down

image

These photos were taken early in the morning when I was in a groggy state. I’m never a morning person that’s why usually, at times like this when I have to go out and get dressed, I wear some brights or any adornment that could help kickstart my day.

image

By the way, in case some of you are wondering, I am still here at home prepping myself up for my first day of work on July 25. My remaining days here mean that I could still post some updates before I officially become less visible in the online world. I hope you guys will miss me because I sure will miss talking to you.

Always,

Joyce

Changes

image

It’s great to embrace new things and veer away from normalcy once in a while. Exhibit one: this blog post. As frequently mentioned from our most recent posts, my Tete (a sobriquet for my Ate Joyce) will now be away from home since she’s now an employed young woman which is equated with intermittent outfit shoots together. Kudos to you my big sister for landing a job in no time! I’m assuming I’ll get a monthly share of your salary (fingers crossed, haha!).  Going back to the main subject, this would be the start of our solo outfit posts. By injecting a personal touch, you would get to know us better individually.

On Didi: head-to-toe thrifted

I’m on my last year as a student and I will definitely seize every moment. I’m currently working on my thesis which preoccupies me a lot but no worries, I’ll see to it that I’d keep you posted guys. I think you just have to bear with me and my often haggard face because I’ll be the regular blogger here and I have the right to rant and vent out each time I want to. LOL ☺

image

Being back to school means being back with A-Fash! And since we are allowed not to wear our uniforms on the first weeks, we took the opportunity to dress-up. We decided to have the Preppy style as our first theme which perfectly fits the back-to-school vibe!

This school girl skirt says it all. I received a lot of compliments on my outfit, especially this skirt.

I really hope you enjoyed your first few days in school as much as I did. One last thing – don’t be afraid of changes, after all it’s an opportunity to grow and discover new things.

Don’t forget to hype my look:

With love,

Didi

Living in the Moment

image

image

image

As we have mentioned before, Frances and Flair will undergo major changes, one of which is the erratic publishing of updates. We’re not based in the same location no more and it’s certain that the both of us will be swamped with work – Didi with her final year in college as a Psychology student (not to mention she’s battling with her own OC self) and Joyce (a fresh graduate who is in dire need of something to keep her butt moving) with her career as her top priority. However, these primacies don’t entail giving up on our blog. Let’s just say our blog is in a sortie and will come home on unpredictable dates.

image

On Didi: floral romper used as top, Koreana Shop; high-waisted shorts and yellow creepers, thrifted

image

image

Didi: “In this outfit, I combined florals and stripes. Never be afraid to mix and match patterns and prints. Just don’t go overboard coz you might end up being arrested by the fashion police.”

image

LOVE bracelet, Sassy Pink iDesign by JuvyBee; wooden beads bracelet, Rainbow Tropics; watch, Guess

image

On Joyce: button-down top, Bayo; pearl shorts and creepers, thrifted

image

Joyce: “This was an “I-don’t-know-what-to-wear-I’ll-just-rummage-through-my-closet” type of day and I ended up with this outfit. How do you like my spontaneity?”

aztec-inspired bracelet, Folded and Hung; watch, Fossil

That’s our younger sister slash resident photographer Frances Kiana aka Kia

It’s officially back to school for Didi. Meanwhile, Joyce is to ace her job interviews in Manila and apart from her wishes to get hired in no time (we got a strong-willed young woman right here), she’s also got high hopes in meeting some of our dearest readers in the metro esp. those whom she has already interacted with in the social media world. And oh, it’s our blog’s 1st birthday on Saturday, 8th of June. Please do watch out for a special blog post. Keep safe you guys!

Comeback

image

We’re Frances Joyce and Frances Claudine Vasquez a.k.a. Joyce and Didi; we’re sisters and fashion bloggers and we just came back from the afterlife. We deem it necessary to reintroduce ourselves coz it’s been like forever since we last published an outfit post and yes, we do apologize. How are you guys doing? It’s been a delightful summer to the both of us. We had respective commitments and we were productive. Joyce is still unemployed but overall, she’s happy. Didi’s done with her internship and is already bracing herself for her final school year.

image

In the course of our hiatus, we received a couple of messages and tweets regarding our comeback post. We felt so loved and so we dedicate this bright and breezy outfit post to you guys coz we’re a firm believer that clothing can potently express feelings much the same way as words and actions can. This was shot at the Haciendas de Naga poolside when we had our summer-ender bonding with our aunt and cousins. Oh how bad we missed posing for the camera and we’re actually finding the right words to type right now. It’s been more than a month since we last updated Frances and Flair and the breather really proved that fashion blogging is really a part of our system now that not being able to blog makes us incomplete. Thank you for being patient and supportive.

On Joyce: bustier floral top (Didi’s), Straps and Laces; sunnies, SM Department Store; denim top (worn on waist) and denim shorts, thrifted; arm candy, CaLee Shoppe; flip-flops, Havaianas

Joyce: “My outfit screams SUMMER HANGOVER. I chose a vibrant orange bustier and pastel-colored shorts which I think made a cute combo. I tied the denim top on my waist to add some attitude.”image

On Didi: silver bustier and US flag bandage skirt, Koreana Shop; denim vest, thrifted; sunnies, Les’ Moda; watch, Guess; sneakers, Juicy Couture

braided bracelet, Clarissa’s Arm Candy

Didi: “I’ve been envying Lookbookers on their seamless outfit posts wearing denims, bustiers, and printed skirts so I decided to combine all three as my outfit of the day. I feel like I’m a laidback rocker chick heading to a concert when I’m actually to dive in a wave pool. But hey I changed into my trusty bikinis after this shoot, just in case you’re bemused.”

We hope you’re pleased with our revival. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder and we hope that in this particular case, it rings true.
